About
Dr. Elisa Brown is an educator, transformational leader, and award-winning principal dedicated to impacting the educational outcomes of all students. For the past two decades, Dr. Brown has led PS 249, a nationally recognized National Blue Ribbon School, in Brooklyn, New York. Under her principalship, PS 249 transformed from a lower-performing school to an award-winning community grounded in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Dr. Brown began her principalship in 2000, tasked with enhancing both the test scores of students as well as the effectiveness of 20 uncertified and inexperienced teachers. Her efforts in closing the achievement gap for a previously underserved student body didn’t go unrecognized. Dr. Brown was one of eight principals in the country honored to receive the Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership in 2021.
As a transformational leader, Dr. Brown’s motto rings true in all she does. In her words, “Let’s not settle for mediocrity when excellence is attainable.” With her unmatched expertise and visionary approach, Dr. Brown equips school leaders and districts with the tools to succeed, turning obstacles into prospects for exceptional educational achievement.
